Dear Sir, dear Madam,
50 Years ago, late Professor Guido Matton founded the department of Plastic Surgery at the Ghent University. He created an environment for research and innovation in our rapidly evolving and broad field of surgical specialty. His department was the home of many outstanding plastic surgeons with excellent international reputation. Today, his legacy lives on in the Ghent Academy of Plastic Surgery or GAPS. This Academy was founded to bridge the gaps between the many sub- and super-specialties in plastic surgery, mixing the aesthetic and reconstructive techniques in breast, facial, transgender, body contouring and extremity surgery as well as innovations in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. The very first GAPS meeting will take place in Ghent on the 17th and 18th of June 2022 and will be a source for knowledge, training and discussion in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. This meeting will also be a tribute to Professor Stan Monstrey, one of the founding fathers of GAPS and world renowned plastic surgeon in the field of gender reassignment and burn surgery, who has partially retired in 2021.
This meeting will be a perfect opportunity for plastic surgeons to exchange their experience in surgical techniques, tips and tricks, share best and worst cases and debate on controversies. The meeting will host sessions on gender confirmation surgery, face and head and neck surgery, breast surgery, body contouring and burns, lower leg reconstruction and lymphatic surgery and also research and regenerative medicine. We aim to combine both reconstructive and aesthetic topics and how the gap between both can be bridged, a unique concept!
The meeting will also host a local faculty of all the members of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Gent University Hospital.
As you know we cannot organize this meeting without industry support. To accommodate the budget of every company supporting us, we have differentiated variable levels of sponsorship. In annex you will find a list of sponsorship opportunities, together with the modalities and financial support involved. Further details on the meeting and all updates will be published on this site.
We hope that our meeting will be able to provide the necessary help and support to develop your business. The organization committee of the GAPS meeting 2022 is looking very much forward in collaborating again with you and your company. We will do our utmost to make this event a fruitful and enjoyable experience.
